Warranty Cost Estimator

Calculate the expected cost of product failures over the warranty period.

🔍 About the Warranty Cost Estimator

The Warranty Cost Estimator helps manufacturers, retailers, and service providers estimate the total financial exposure associated with product warranties. By entering the product’s manufacturing cost, failure rate, average repair cost, and profit margin, the tool calculates the expected warranty claims cost and the recommended warranty premium for each product unit.

  • 💡 Ideal for product managers, finance teams, and after-sales service planners.
  • 📈 Helps determine the correct warranty pricing or reserve allocation.
  • ⚙️ Uses failure rate modeling to estimate real-world repair/replacement costs.
  • 💰 Supports multiple currencies (INR, USD, EUR) for global business use.

Note: This is an estimation model. Real-world outcomes may vary based on actual defect rates, customer usage, and service efficiency.

Calculation Methodology (Click to view formulas)

This estimator calculates the expected claims cost based on standard risk modeling, assuming a constant Annual Failure Rate (AFR) over the warranty period.

Formulas Used:

  • Expected Failures (Units): AFR/100 × Warranty Duration
  • Expected Claims Cost: Expected Failures × (Product Cost + Avg. Repair Cost)
  • Recommended Premium: Expected Claims Cost × (1 + Margin Rate/100)

The Recommended Premium includes the Expected Claims Cost plus your specified Profit Margin/Buffer.
